'Requiring a driver's license (and keeping a record)' is not the same as scanning the complete information, which belongs to the DMV & the client who has chosen to drive, who have entered a contract by the signature and acceptance of the written requirements. Because a company arbitrarily chooses to scan a drivers license does not make it legal.
3. EClinicialWorks supports TWAIN-based scanners to perform OCR (Optical Character Recognition) for driver’s licenses and insurance card scanning. This eliminates the requirement of an additional OCR scanner. To obtain a TWAIN-supported scanner to perform OCR, end users have to purchase a MedicScan license key from Acuant.

Idscan OCR for Driver Licenses is a driver license card scanning system that extracts the full card image, face image, signature image and full text data of the ID Card arranged in appropriate text fields, into an external file, clipboard or third party software. DocShell is an easy to use utility that scan documents and export the scanned image into existing, pre-installed application on the user's pc (PDF,Microsoft paint etc.). The scanned document can be saved to one of the following image types: BMP, JPG, TIF, PSD, PCX, PNG or TGA.
